Department, Office Location: Compliance, New York City
Year hired: 2007
Describe your background.
When I graduated from law school I was fortunate to get offered a consulting job with a clearing firm. I loved the work and the challenges, so I used the opportunity to learn everything I could and to get licenses. While I have done many different things in the legal and compliance world – including litigation; investment advisory; and running registration, advertising and surveillance – I have always stayed true to my roots in the securities business.
What attracted you to E*TRADE?
There is a certain energy here that I hadn’t felt other places. I like E*TRADE’s core values and I believe in its mission.
What do you like most about working at E*TRADE?
The people. There is a tremendous amount of diversity here that I find refreshing in the financial services industry.
What is a typical day at E*TRADE like for you?
There is actually no such thing as typical in my world, which is definitely one of the things I love most about my job. Since I work directly with the regulators, much of my job is dependent on their needs and timing. It keeps things exciting.
How would you describe E*TRADE’s culture?
E*TRADE is an organization that is focused on its employees and on encouraging people to think outside of the box. It’s a place where people are encouraged to reach their highest potential and where change is welcome.
What do you like to do outside of work?
I am an endurance athlete. I enjoy marathons and 100 mile bike rides. I’m also a running and cycle coach for a charity team that raises money for leukemia and lymphoma research.
