RESPONSIBILITIES

SUMMARY

This full-time, New York-based position will primarily focus on generating earned, owned, and shared content for E*TRADE institutional businesses, including registered investment advisor and stock plan services. This includes regularly pitching the media to secure interviews and coverage, drafting and posting social media posts, and writing bylines and blog entries.
The position is part of the in-house communications team, reporting to the Senior Specialist managing E*TRADE’s wealth management PR practice. This role works collaboratively with the Corporate Communications and Investor Relations teams, as well as across the Company with colleagues in advisor services, corporate services, legal, compliance, marketing, product, risk, and service.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Secure media coverage that appeals to and is helpful for advisors and decision-makers at RIA firms, as well as stock plan administrators and human resource executives
  • Grow and develop relationships with key trade reporters in the registered investment advisor industry as well as the stock plan administration industry
  • Deliver industry benchmarking for media outreach
  • Draft press releases, thought leadership pieces, and blog posts
  • Track, manage, and analyze interactions with trade media
  • Monitor press coverage of company and competitors, providing updates to key internal stakeholders
  • Work with internal business partners to identify opportunities for earned media
  • Collaborate with the team to craft, review, post, and promote social media on E*TRADE’s institutional social channels
  • Monitor social media in real time, escalating any issues or important trends
  • Stay abreast of all social media issues and trends to inform content direction
  • Assist with administrative tasks to help team coordination
  • Work on special projects and ad-hoc requests
  • Assist with fielding, analyzing, packaging, and distributing E*TRADE’s quarterly advisor study to reporters
REQUIREMENTS

Basic

  • 3-4 years of experience in public relations, with B2B finance experience—in-house or agency
  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Journalism or Communications, or equivalent experience required

Preferred

  • Excellent writing, editing, research, and organizational skills, with an extremely high level of attention to detail
  • Understanding of financial services concepts and the RIA audience required
  • Ability to draft blog posts full cloth with little input
  • Proficient in scheduling and posting content to social media platforms
  • Experience in analyzing social engagement and conversations
  • Strong understanding of current social media platforms and optimizing content across channels
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to speak confidently in front of large and small groups
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word
  • Experience with vendors including BusinessWire, Dow Jones Insight, media databases like Gorkana or Vocus, as well as tracking services like iQ Media, Radian6, or Factiva
  • Adobe Photoshop experience, a plus
  • Quantitative market research experience, a plus
  • Series 7 or Securities Industry Essentials (SIE) exam, a plus
