RESPONSIBILITIES

SUMMARY

This full-time, New York-based position will primarily focus on assisting the external communications team in securing and creating earned and social media.
The position is part of the in-house communications team, reporting to the Senior Manager of Corporate Communications. This role works collaboratively with the Corporate Communications and Investor Relations teams, as well as across the Company with colleagues in legal, compliance, marketing, advertising, product, risk, service, and compliance.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Draft media briefs and set up interviews
  • Manage department editorial calendar
  • Monitor media relations inbox and escalate inquiries as appropriate
  • Communicate coverage internally and to members of the media relations team (e.g., intranet, package news for distribution)
  • Manage monthly coverage recap and ad hoc news scrapes
  • Schedule and distribute press releases
  • Assist in compiling and reporting out on metrics
  • Post approved content to social media
  • Track, manage, and analyze interactions with media
  • Monitor press coverage of company and competitors, providing updates to key internal stakeholders
  • Monitor social media channels in real time, escalating any issues or important trends
  • Work on special projects and ad-hoc requests
REQUIREMENTS

Basic

  • Recent graduate with 0-1 years of experience in public relations with financial services clients—in-house or agency
  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Journalism or Communications, or equivalent experience required

Preferred

  • Excellent writing, editing, research and organizational skills, with an extremely high level of attention to detail
  • Basic understanding of financial services and investing a plus
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills , including the ability to speak confidently in front of large and small groups
  • Strong understanding of current social media platforms and optimizing content across channels
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word
  • Experience with vendors including BusinessWire, Dow Jones Insight, media databases like Gorkana or Vocus, as well as tracking services like iQ Media, Radian6 or Factiva
  • Adobe Photoshop experience, a plus
  • Quantitative market research experience, a plus
